Creative Clusters comes to Glasgow
Issues surrounding the creative economy will be the focus of a major international conference in Glasgow next month supported by the Scottish Arts Council. |
Creative Clusters is an independent policy conference examining the growth and importance of the creative economy. Each year this major conference is held in a different UK city bringing together leading speakers and thinkers in the creative industries, arts and economy. This year Glasgow has been selected as the host city and the conference will examine themes pertinent to Glasgow and Scotland alongside global issues.
The three day conference will give delegates the opportunity to examine some of the key issues facing the creative sector in today’s global economy and includes a specific focus on the experience of smaller nations such as Singapore, New Zealand, Ireland, Sweden, Austria and of course Scotland. |
Other key themes of the conference include
- ‘Policies for Festivity’– examining growing popularity of live events in the internet age and asking how many festivals does the world need?
- The recent Scottish Broadcasting Commission will be in front of the lens as part of a wider examination of the changing role of media centres in the internet and mobile age, and
- Scotland’s creative economy will be discussed including a presentation from Creative Scotland Transition Director Anne Bonnar.
Creative Clusters takes place from 17 to 21 November in locations throughout Glasgow centred round the City Halls. The full programme and registration details are available on the website www.creativeclusters.com. |
