Background

Dance in Scotland is enjoying a period of change and growth. Companies and dancers are not only being nominated for but also winning major awards, more people getting involved in dance – at all levels – than ever before, and audiences for dance are growing.

Dance is also becoming a more viable career option; advanced training opportunities are being established, there are new facilities in which to create and participate in dance, and there is a growing network of theatres and other venues presenting dance.

There is increased potential to develop and sustain our creative talent in Scotland. This includes attracting people back to Scotland who have had to find opportunities elsewhere.
