The group was founded in 2006 and since its creation has gone on to enjoy much success, performing for the likes of Gordon Ramsey, performing on Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway and representing Scotland in various cultureal festivals throughout Europe.
With wild, energetic and vibrant performances, Celtic Storm strive to show the true spirit of Highland dance, a total contrast from the regimented style of competitive Highland Dancing.
Elements of ballet, jazz, Cape Breton and Irish set them apart from other Highland dance groups. All of their dancers are highly trained Highland dancers and are all prize winners in their own right.
They are in the process of confirming appearences for early 2009 onwards. If you are interested in knowing more about the group, or how they could perform for you or indeed your partners, please visit the Celtic Storm website or email Jane Shedden. Over Autumn 2008 Step Up has developed a group of 9 mentors - all experienced and respected arts managers.
Through research and consultation, FST has identified that there is a gap in mentoring provision for those working in middle and junior management level who require support to develop their management practice. This is particularly the case for those recently promoted, or wish to be promoted, to new, more senior posts.
Mentors work on the principle that their clients are inherently talented, resourceful and creative and that they are able to resolve issues when they understand them and know how to change them. In confidential sessions clients (mentees) can ‘think aloud’ and talk through strategies with their mentors to reach new understandings and insights into their situation.
This is a career development opportunity for individuals from all areas of the performing arts.
For more information, or to request an application pack please contact:
Kirsty Bichan, Training Officer on 0131 220 6393
