Dance Base Christmas show
Dance Base’s Christmas Show is a celebration of what Scotland’s National Centre for Dance is all about – the people who go there to dance. The show demonstrated the diversity of classes Dance Base offers, the standard of teaching, and was a chance to find out more about the classes on offer at Dance Base. But first and foremost it was a celebration of the dedication and passion of the people who attend classes there.

Dance Base's annual Christmas Show is a chance for everyone who attends public classes to perform onstage, showing friends, family and their fellow class mates what they have achieved in their class at Dance Base. Dancers of every level and ability get an enormous buzz out of performing on stage, and the atmosphere at the show is always terrific! |
Younger dancers did their performance on Sunday 12 December, with flamenco, breakdancing and all the latest cool moves from the Alive and Kickin’ classes.

The adults had their moment in the spotlight on Monday 13 December. Members of the West African Intermediate class performed a dance based on the traditional Ghanaian Fume Fume, while the Advanced Tap students shook it to Tom Jones’s Baby It’s Cold Outside.
The sexy Samba students were there, as was the mambo class, who had chosen music by Tito Puente for their number. The Advanced Flamenco students were accompanied by live guitar, singing and ‘palmas’ for a real taste of Spain. Other classes had chosen music by Usher, Punjabi MC and Black Eyed Peas, and the Highland Dance students were dancing to the splendidly titled Highland Bling.
The Dance Base Christmas Show took place at George Square Theatre, George Square/Buccleuch Place. |
