The announcement was made by the Director of the Clore Leadership Programme, the Rt Hon Lord Smith of Finsbury, who said: “This will be the fifth group of Clore Fellows we’ve welcomed onto our Leadership Programme, and they are a truly impressive range of people from all parts of the cultural sector. Already the Fellows from the first four groups are making a real difference as leaders in arts and cultural organizations up and down the country, and we’re delighted to have such a strong group to carry this forward in the year ahead. Every year we’ve been bowled over by the quality of applicants coming forward for the Programme, and 2008 is no exception.”

Dame Vivien Duffield, Patron of the Programme, said: “When I set up the Clore Leadership Programme in 2003 I wanted to help to prepare and develop future leaders in arts and cultural organisations – and through these changes in leadership to make a step change in the success of the cultural sector as a whole.  I’m really proud of what has been achieved already, in such a short period of time. And this new group of Fellows shows that the progress can continue well into the future”.

The Clore Leadership Programme aims to help to train and develop outstanding leaders in the arts. Fellows have been selected annually, from the cultural sector and beyond, to undertake an individually tailored programme of tuition, research, mentoring and secondment designed to develop their leadership skills, knowledge, networks and experience.  Since September 2004, 132 cultural leaders will have been awarded Fellowships on the Clore Leadership Programme.
