Little Johnny's Big Gay Adventures in Prague

Little Johnny takes on the Czech Republic as Random Accomplice takes their Glasgay! show to the Prague Fringe Festival.

Originally an Arches New Work Commission as part of Glasgay!, Little Johnny is the story of one man’s search for love throughout the city of Gay-Glasgow.

Combining a variety of forms from stand-up to confessional theatre, the performance played to sell-out audiences for three nights. Performed by Johnny McKnight, the show was well received by both audiences and critics alike.

'… this adventure is a painfully honest, coming-of-age tale that isn’t scared to get naked and show its emotional scars… it’s a little ray of light that shimmers.'
Neil Cooper, The Herald

The suspected illegitimate lovechild of Linda Nolan and Donny Osmond, Little Johnny was discovered abandoned on the doorstep of the Horseshoe Bar. Little Johnny shares his experiences with us, joined along the way by Mr Impotent, Mr Bunny-Boiler, Mr Oh-My-God-is-that-Real and Mr Totally-Not-Interested.

Tonight he’s looking to find Mr Right-Even-If-Just-For-One-Night.

Prague Fringe Festival

The Prague Fringe was established five years ago by Steven Gove and Carole Wears (previous managers of the Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh). The Prague Fringe Festival is still run from very humble surroundings on a limited budget, but each year it continues to capture the imagination of the Czech audience, and attracts acts from around the world, keen to perform in this historic city. This year 35 theatre companies from nine countries will present an eclectic mix of performances at the event’s unique Mala Strana venues.

Given the subject matter of the performance, Random Accomplice's participation in the Prague Fringe Festival will allow a platform for gay issues to be presented within the context of a mainstream festival (as opposed to part of a gay audience as with Glasgay!).

While in Prague, Random Accomplice will have the opportunity to work with the Minneapolis Playwrights Center.  Random Accomplice hope to strengthen a relationship with this particular company – especially in light of Johnny McKnight’s recent commission to write Reunion and present Little Johnny's Big Gay Musical this year.  The musical will be performed as part of Glasgay! in October and November 2007.
