Glasgay! - Scotland’s annual celebration of queer culture
In it's 11th year in 2004, Glasgay is the largest multi-artform festival of its kind in the UK.
Glasgay is not just for gay people, it’s for everyone. Being queer is both attitude and an identity. Glasgay feels it’s important to present the many varied, diverse and quirky faces of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender artistic community. It’s a chance for everyone to embrace diversity, to promote tolerance and understanding of gay people as positive role models, and to celebrate queer culture.
In November 2004, new producer Steven Thomson brought together top acts and new work from across the world. Read on for a flavour of the festival.

The programme included the Scottish premiere of Audiology from London-based Pacitti Company at the Tramway theatre. With an international cast, the action is effortlessly intertwined with song and Max Richter’s Memoryhouse recordings, performed by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. |

Glasgay is about entertainment as well as serious work.
There was much for filmgoers to see, including the Scottish premiere of Mark Rucker's 'Die Mommie Die' at Glasgow Film Theatre and Glasgay Shorts at the CCA.
With saucy ballerinas, witty comedians, femme fatale clones and film star drag queens as well as a one-off Burly club night, Glasgay provides fun for all. |
