Inspire was an £8 million National Lottery fund which was developed as part of the Scottish Arts Council’s commitment to increasing participation and aims to provide more, wider, better engagement with the arts:
More – increasing the number and range of people enjoying and taking part in the arts, particularly arts activity for and by children and young people.
Wider – making the arts available to those who have had little opportunity to participate in the past; ensuring a fair geographic spread of activities; and supporting projects across artforms and technologies.
Better – increasing further the quality of arts activities by supporting creative, ambitious projects.
Inspire was launched in February 2008 and had two separate strands – the Inspire Fund and the Inspiring Communities Fund.
All the funds have now been allocated and the programme is now closed. The projects are now in the course of being delivered in communities across Scotland.
11 projects across Scotland were awarded money through the Inspire Fund in January 2009. Read more about the prjects which we have funded. We will be updating these pages as the projects begin to deliver their aspirations.
Inspiring Communities aimed to support projects that will connect people and their communities through the arts and encourage long-lasting links between people, places and ideas.
