Hebrides Ensemble The Players Hebrides' Tune Up tour Recordings

Hebrides Ensemble has built a reputation touring frequently throughout Scotland, appearing at international music festivals and broadcasting regularly on BBC Radio 3.
The Ensemble has commissioned and premiered new works by more than forty composers including Nigel Osborne, Sally Beamish, Stuart MacRae and Gordon Mcpherson. They also perform a celebrated series of concerts each year at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

Hebrides performers have played with a huge number of Scottish and international orchestras and chamber groups, including the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, BBC SSO, RSNO, Nash Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Dante Quartet.

The Scottish Arts Council are delighted that Hebrides Ensemble will be taking part in the Tune Up music touring programme. They will be performing music by recent and twentieth century British composers.
| Touring during November 2004, Hebrides Ensemble will take dazzling performances of a bold mix of dramatic music for wind and strings. Venues include Inverness, Ullapool, Plockton, Aberdeen, Stirling and Edinburgh. |

Hebrides Ensemble’s recent CD 'Anake' by Lyell Cresswell for the NMC label has received high critical acclaim across the globe.
The works on the CD are predominantly for solo instruments. Anake is a set of three contrasting pieces for solo flute, Whira is for solo violin, Acquerello for piano and Atta for solo cello. The CD concludes with Variations on a Theme of Charles Ives for flute and cello.
