SxSW
In 2010 the Scottish Arts Council will again be supporting a handful of emerging Scottish acts to showcase their talents at SxSW in Austin, Texas. We will be coordinating the Showcasing Scotland events and presence in Austin and we'll be supporting the following bands to appear.
- Broken Records
Edinburgh's Broken Records (4AD) combine Violent strings, droning accordions and abrasive guitars to create passionate widescreen music. www.brokenrecordsband.com
- Colin MacIntyre aka Mull Historical Society
Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Mull who has released acclaimed albums as Mull Historical Society and under his own name www.colinmacintyre.com/
- Fangs

- Frightened Rabbit

- The Law

- St Deluxe

- Trembling Bells

The Scottish Arts Council and Cultural Enterprise Office held two training events on 17 & 18 September for artists, managers and others wishing to showcase at the SxSW Music Conference in Austin Texas in March 2010.

The events were very well attended and the speakers (Scott Paterson (Sons & Daughters), Una Johnston (SxSW), Francis Macdonald (Manager of Camera Obscura), Paul Grieve (Paul Grieve Management), Katie Ray (Traffic Control), Ziggy Campbell & Tommy Perman (FOUND) Stuart Thomas (Scottish Arts Council) passed on key information and advice. |

Last year The Showcasing Scotland event witnessed performances from Primal Scream, Glasvegas, The Proclaimers and Camera Obscura showcasing alongside Dananananaykroyd, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Found, Twin Atlantic, My Latest Novel and The Pictish Trail.

In 2009 the Scottish presence at SxSW featured Primal Scream, Glasvegas, The Proclaimers, The Pictish Trail, Found, Come on Gang!, Alex Smoke, Twin Atlantic, Nacional, We Were Promised Jetpacks, My Latest Novel, Camera Obscura and Dananananakroyd. |
Over four days, from 18 to 21 March, the Scottish contingent met with other artists, international promoters, record companies and booking agents during the annual SxSW festival.

Ten bands were supported to appear at SxSW 2010 by the Scottish Arts Council:
- Come on Gang! - The tight pop-punk three-piece have released two singles to date, each to critical acclaim
