The new Scottish Arts Council Report on the P6 Target Data has now been published and can be downloaded from the Youth Music Initiative publications page. This report uses data collected from all 32 local authorities and Jordanhill School to show that in 2006/07 (Year 4 of the YMI) the P6 target was sustained throughout Scotland.
The P6 target is that 'all school children should have had access to one year's free music tuition by the time they reach Primary 6', and forms the basis of the YMI's work in the formal youth music sector. There were 218 projects that contributed to sustaining the P6 target in Year 4, with musical genres including jazz, traditional Scottish music and opera.
