Travelling Gallery 'jaGGy-edge'

The Travelling gallery is a unique mobile gallery which works to bring art to communities across Scotland.

The Autumn tour looks at the use of collage in contemporary arts following the recent interest in the subject. In line with the ethos of the Travelling Gallery, the jaggy-edge exhibitions aim to bring this new interest to audiences in Scotland.

jaGGy-edge combines the mediums of paper cut-out collage, digital technology and sculptural assemblage to create a vibrant show.

Exhibiting artists include:

• Melanie Carvalho-who creates large scale landscape collages. Much of her work is inspired by the Scottish landscape.
• Shahzia Sikander Sikander’s exhibits are both beautiful and hypnotic. She produces digital animations from miniature paintings and combines influences from the Mughal dynasty with contemporary digital art composition. The art lives in New York and was born in Pakistan. 

William Daniels- Daniels creates small scale paintings using paper models and Marquette’s of famous historical paintings. Daniels brings solidity to throwaway materials. The artist lives and works in London

Gunilla Klingberg- Klingberg works to frame the ordinary as the extraordinary. Working from shop and supermarket logos using animation, Klingberg places symbols to document every day life through a kaleidoscopic lens.

• Tony Swain- Influences from media, music and the built landscape inform Swains work. He will be exhibiting a new series of small scale collage/paintings which has been said to draw the viewer into Swains own surreal world.
• Jim Lambie- nominated for the Turner Prize in 2005, Glasgow based Lambie works to turn modern life into sculpture. H will exhibit a new piece for this exhibition
• Ruth Claxton- Claxton’s exhibition at jaggy-edge will be specifically for the Travelling Gallery. Kitsch humour balanced with disturbing psychological overtones is often found in Claxton’s work.
