Following the success of last year’s National Lottery 10th birthday celebrations, National Lottery Day has become an annual event to mark the contribution the lottery has made to all the good causes it funds. |
Since the Lottery began in 1994 the Scottish Arts Council has invested over £230 million of lottery funds in the arts in Scotland and hundreds of arts organisations and community groups have benefited from lottery awards.
On National Lottery Day on 5 November, lottery funded organisations across the UK will host events. Over 60 events are planned across Scotland, including –
Scottish Youth Theatre will be giving guided tours around their new building which received a grant of £250,000 from the Scottish Arts Council. Special children's workshops will be held on the day.
Scottish Traditions of Dance Trust will be performing as part of special celebrations in the Royal Museum, Edinburgh.
Scottish Music Centre are celebrating their support from the National Lottery by organising a performance at The Arches in Glasgow on 3 November. Young Scottish composers between 12-19 years old will perform their work in front of their classmates. The Scottish Music Centre has recently moved to a Glasgow’s redesigned City Halls, with the support of the National Lottery.
Northern Rock Festival Group in Glasgow have organised a concert at the Rainbow Hall on 2 November. The concert will feature Dieselbone, a rock band from Milton, ESBs a young rap band from Springburn, Levis an 18-year-old rapper and Arnaud and Gideon, a young rap duo originally from Africa. Entry is free and the concert starts at 8pm.
